The summer is a great time to encourage your child to experiment with art-making! Consider supplying your child with a space for creating art at home and provide a drawer or box filled with paper, crayons, markers, scissors, glue, and scraps of paper or cloth. Encourage your child to use these materials frequently and independently and to enjoy the process, rather than being concerned with how the final result appears. When finished, hang the artwork on the refrigerator or in another area of your home. Displaying your child's finished product lets him know that you value his work and helps him to develop confidence.
